The Merhow Corporation has been manufacturing horse trailers for over 47 years. We believe we are the oldest horse trailer manufacturer in the country. Merhow is a custom built, fully customizable, high quality trailer. It is often referred to as the Cadillac of horse trailers. Each of our trailers is custom built on receipt of an order; we do not use mass production techniques. This results in a trailer which is more expensive than a production line trailer but which has significantly better quality. One measure of Merhow quality is that it is almost impossible to find a used Merhow.
Merhow of Alabama is a subsiderary of Steel Prize Stable in Madison, Alabama. Steel Prize Stables was established in 1985 and is one of the largest training barns in northern Alabama. We specialize in dressage and eventing. You may see our web site at: http://home.net/~steelprize.
We use our trailers at least once a week throughout the year for both long and short trips. Our passengers are competition horses who must arrive ready to compete successfully; our top dressage horse is a 17.2 hand Hanoverian showing at Grand Prix and our top eventer is going Preliminary. Our main trailer is a 5 horse slant load gooseneck with warm blood size stalls. We also use a 3 horse slant load gooseneck and a 2 horse straight load bumper pull as the need arises.
Since Merhow is the only trailer we use in our horse business it is also the only one we carry in the trailer business. We have been a Merhow dealer since 1986 so you can be sure we will be here if you need us in the future. As a serious user of trailers, not just a seller, we can discuss with you in a very knowledgeable manner the pros and cons of the various types of trailers and the options offered from a base of practical experience not just theory.
In addition to making our expertise available to you before and after the sale, we also offer you competitive prices which are based on our extremely low overhead. Because the trailer business is leveraged off of our existing horse business, there is almost no overhead attributed to the trailers. For example, we do not take credit cards simply because this would add 2 to 5% to your cost. (Two percent of $10,000 is $200 - that is a nice discount.) It should be worth $200 for you to use an alternate method of payment. This allows us to pass even greater savings to you.
We welcome the opportunity for a price competition with anyone for a trailer of equal specifications. Details such as trailer height, slant load stall size, etc are important for a valid price comparison and we look forward to beating their prices.
